We mail you a simple one-page release form authorizing Razor Wire Feels to scan, publish, and manage your work on your behalf. Sign it, mail it back. If you named a family member or friend to manage your page, we'll send them a separate authorization form too.
We keep originals on file. You retain all rights to your work.

Once your release form is back, your page is live at razorwirefeels.com/NC/[your-ID]. We scan every letter or artwork you send us, run it through our system, and publish both the original scan and the text. Your page is permanent and public.

We mail a release form to your loved one inside. They sign it authorizing you to manage their page. Mail it back to us and you're live.
What You Can Do
Upload scanned letters and artwork, write episode descriptions, manage their store, respond to their audience, and receive money order instructions for any sales.
Payment
You can pay the $10/month paid tier on their behalf via credit card or PayPal from the outside. Free tier requires no payment from anyone.

We send the authorization form directly to your loved one inside. They sign it, mail it back to us. Once received, you're authorized to manage their page.

Do I keep the rights to my writing and artwork?

Yes. Absolutely and completely. You own everything you create. Razor Wire Feels is a publishing platform, not a publisher. We scan and post on your behalf — you retain full intellectual property rights. If a book deal comes from something you posted here, that's yours. We just helped it get seen.
What if I get transferred to a different facility?

Just write us a letter from your new facility letting us know. Your page stays exactly where it is. Nothing changes except the mailing address we use for you. If you have a family member managing your page from outside, they can update us by email.
Can I stay anonymous? Use just my alias?
›
Yes. Your page can display your alias as your primary name. Your inmate ID and facility are listed for authenticity — this platform is specifically for incarcerated individuals and that context matters. But you can go by Redbeard the Great, The Quiet Storm, or whatever name you write under. Your legal name is only used for our internal records and the release form.
What if the administration won't let me mail things out?

Work with a family member or friend on the outside. They can scan and upload physical documents on your behalf once they're authorized. If your mail is being monitored or restricted unfairly, document it — that's exactly the kind of thing Razor Wire Feels exists to push back against.
How do I get paid if someone buys my work?

Sales proceeds (minus our 15% platform fee) are sent to you via money order to your institution, or to a person you designate outside. We process payouts monthly. Minimum payout is $10. If your account balance is under $10 at the end of a month, it rolls over to the next month.
Is this connected to NCDAC or the prison system in any way?

No. Razor Wire Feels has no connection to, affiliation with, or approval from NCDAC or any correctional institution. We are an independent publishing platform. Your participation here is your own business and your constitutional right. We do not share any information with correctional facilities.
What kind of content can I post?
›
Writing of any kind — memoir, fiction, poetry, essays, letters, rants, reviews, comedy, philosophy. Artwork — pencil, pen, watercolor, charcoal, whatever you're working with. The content should be your own work. We don't censor political views, strong language, or dark subject matter. We do not publish content that targets or endangers specific individuals.
What happens to my physical letters and artwork after 6 months?

We store originals for 6 months. After that, they're securely destroyed unless you've requested them to be mailed somewhere, or you're on the paid tier (which includes 12-month storage). If a buyer purchases a physical original, we mail it directly to them before the storage period ends.
